    you are bidding on 1
    rare Civil War Canister Shot (also known as a grape shot) from an exploded Canister.  These have a diameter of about 1".  Canister shot was placed in stacks and stuck together...  In the middle of the canister there was a black powder bursting charge that would explode sending the canister shot flying in every direction like a shot gun blast.  These are getting very tough to come by.  These were all dug in Antietam, Maryland.  I was fortunate enough to purchase a collection from the Antietam Area as well as central and Northern Virginia (I also have some of these from Chancellorsville and Fredericksburg, Va.).  Please google canister shot to see the various uses as well as battles these were utilized in.  Please see my other auctions for more great authentic Civil War Relics.
